Damage to underneath keel

Damage to underneath keel

I have a Hartley 27ft Tasman motor sailer with extensive damage in the base of the keel, caused by salt water in the armature, which seems to have blown the ferro off along the whole length of the keel. The armature is damaged, and badly rusted.Any suggestions for good repair?

Hi Don, before you attempt to effect a repair you need to find out how the water got in there to create the problem in the first place. The usual cause in that area is as a result of leaving damage unattended to for long periods, or large voids being allowed access to the surface. Regards
